Dear
Saint Matthew's School Alumni:
For years
there has been the dream, plan, hope, desire to connect with graduates
and past students of Saint Matthew's School. Now, finally, thanks
to the efforts of Michele and John Edwards and others, this first
alumni newsletter appears.
I am
not a grad of St. Matt's, although my aunt, Sister Mary Lois, SSND
taught kindergarten at St. Matthew's for many years. I remember as
a high school and grade school student visiting her at "good old
St. Matt's".
The purpose
of this newsletter is to connect with you to provide information
about St. Matthew's as well as to provide news about alumni. It also
gives you the opportunity to connect with us.
What
are you doing now? Where do you live? Tell something about your family.
Your classmates are interested, and this newsletter can have the "feel" of
a neighborhood newspaper--lots of information about a community.
Next
year the "old school" will be a 100 years old. Fully five generations
of families will have passed through those doors and walked those
halls and studied in those classrooms.
Not long
ago, at the Catholic Schools Week Open House at the school, Marie
Haas Ferber '31 and Bernie Ferber '31 walked the halls and reminisced.
This year is their 70th graduation anniversary!
I am
eager to hear from you. You are welcome at St. Matthew's any time.
I hope this newsletter lets you know when and where and how activities
involving St. Matthew's School take place. It is always a delight
to visit with "homecoming" St. Matthew's students.
Yours
truly,

Stephen
