St. Matt’s Parish 2024 Accomplishments
Administration/Staffing
Successfully convened a task force which provided recommendations for St. Matt's Future Planning initiative.
Fiscal responsibility - Another year of being able to pay the bills and still drive building improvements.
Improved communications – recently updated logo and overhauled website to better reflect who we are as a community.
Liturgy & Sacraments
The successful transition from Fr. Steve Adrian to Fr. Thomas Kommers in the midst of celebrating the Triduum.
Hosted Fr. Steve’s funeral, including all-night Vigil, funeral luncheon and Soup & Story event, with more events planned for 2025.
Increase in Mass attendance -especially on Sunday.
Name Tags were implemented - the philosophy behind it to create a cohesive equal level.
Catching up on baptisms and helping connect to those young families.
Continued to support our partners, including Community of Saints, Loaves & Fishes, St. Mary’s Health Clinic, Casa Guadalupana, & Raíces Sagradas.
Programming
Children’s Liturgy of the Word has continued.
West Side Project – our participation has made it easier to build connections and community.
Early Childhood Family Faith Formation - initial steps to bring this to life for 2025 and beyond.
Emphasis on youth in the parish (at all ages), but especially with the Youth Group.
Community Impact
Continuing to connect St. Matt’s to the broader community through events like Night to Unite. Really brought together intergenerational community.
St. Matt’s continues to be a community leader on the West side.
Eucharist ministry at Cerenity again - including memory care. An impactful ministry for the broader community.
New programming - Bible Study group, Commonweal discussion group.
Continued - Coffee Sunday, Feast of St. Matthews, Night to Unite, Mass in the Park.
Facilities Improvements
Replaced the electric box for the entire campus.
Raised funds to renovate the parking lot – plan to begin work summer 2025.
Installed security cameras around campus.
Added recording/live-streaming capability in the church sanctuary.
